Chris Tebbs has been in the professional textile care industry for over 40 years. Much of that time he was employed by the Fabric Care Research Association, an organisation that provided full technical and management support to launderers, drycleaners, textile renters and suppliers to the industry.
 
He was responsible for:
  • The production and implementation of a technical investigative research programme;
  • Providing a wide range of technical and informative publications and reports;
  • Liaising/negotiating with government departments at both UK and European level in diverse areas such as education and training; health and safety; environment; employment; consumer affairs; energy; and trade;
  • The development of National Vocational Qualifications for the laundering / drycleaning industries in the UK and
  • The development and maintenance of International and European Standards covering drycleaning processes, textile care labelling, machinery design and construction.
 
After various roles within the organisation, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer in 1988, a position he held until 2001.

Chris moved to Canada in 2003 and since then has taken on new roles as:
  • The Executive Secretary of the Alberta Textile Care Association, a trade association for drycleaners and launderers and
  • The Executive Director of the International Drycleaners Congress, a professional organisation for individual drycleaners world wide providing information and services to enable drycleaners to meet the challenges of the future, whether technological or legislative, through ethical business practice.
He has also been a part of CINET for over 20 years, first of all as a representative of the FCRA to the General Assembly, during which time he served on the Health, Safety and Environment Commission and the Care Labelling Commission and since 2004 as a Director. Currently represents CINET on ISO TC38/SC2/WG12, a standards working group responsible for Care Labelling using Symbols.

Chris, a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, is also a Fellow and Honorary Life Member of the Guild of Cleaners and Launderers in the UK, a member and former President of the International Technical Committee for Textile Care, and a member of  the National Fire Protection Association (USA) Committee 32 which is responsible for safety regulations in retail drycleaning and laundries.
